My name is Roger Ward I am 46 years old & farm with my brother in the village of Kelshall, farming 550 acres of arable crops. I am married to Janet & have two young daughters, Megan 12 & Emmy 10. I have been looking into diversifying into a different area since we gave up rearing turkeys in 1998, this is to help supplement our ever-declining farm income. Whilst reading an article in the farming press around two years ago about the forthcoming waste regulations, I had an idea that I might be able to turn this new legislation to my advantage? So with a lot of research & with the support of my family & friends I decided to set up Kelshall Plastics collecting waste plastics, cardboard, etc from farms for recycling. We will operate in the Herts, Beds, Cambs & Essex area in the main but will obviously go further a field if it is worth our while! We are an independently run family business & have no connections with the nationwide business’s offering a similar service to ourselves.
